angels.
A friend of mine is doing an alphabetical countdown to Christmas. I thought I'd join her in this venture to help refocus my attention on the true meaning of this special season. As I got into my crazy day and thought back on the post I quickly wrote this morning, I was struck that it had no mention of taking time to spend with the One we celebrate and no reflection on the meaning of His birth.
SO ... on this first day of the Christmas season by the light of the Christmas tree ...
A is for ANGELS. What a gift to be the first to proclaim the birth of the Messiah. Angels all throughout this amazing journey were the bearers of GOOD NEWS ... first to Zechariah, then to Mary and Joseph, and finally to the shepherds in the fields. They said, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people." (Luke 2:10) We have that same good news to share. Let one of the gifts of the season be to share good news and "glad tidings" with those around us that the Savior is born!
