Catching up ...

I know, Emily, don't faint on me.  Two entries in one day do not make up for the last two weeks.  But there was/is soooooo much I wanted to write about the last few weeks:

* Mexico - it's still coming ...

* Gini's wedding ... and she's already back from her honeymoon (thank God my Tuesday night DC date is back!!)

*Becca and Adam speaking at Gathering

* How I LOVE the girls God's given me and why I have the best job in the world!

* Our Mexico taco party ... where we ate in the backyard and played kickball!!  :-)

* the cool things I'm learning from Haggai ... yep, Haggai

And maybe, hopefully (code speak for "don't hold your breath!) I'll get to most of them this week. But while I'm thinking about it ... wanted to say a bit about Becca and Adam.

I met Becca with Gini when I first came to UGA FIVE years ago!  She had one more semester at UGA so I didn't get to know her as well while she was there.  But through hearing stories of what God's done in her life from Gini, being her facebook stalker friend, and now devouring everything she puts in her blog, I've gotten to know her better ... and she's on the list of people I want to be when I grow up!

This summer I noticed on my handy newsfeed that she had posted a status about a video she and Adam were in on Broken Voices (http://brokenvoices.org/).  It's episode 3:JUMP.  It told such a beautiful story of what God is doing in their lives.  I made everyone I saw watch it and begged and begged for us to use it at BCM.  Well, seeing as that I'm just not that influential ... we didn't.

But in the meantime, I discovered Becca's blog and was continually challenged, blessed and even moved to tears (both from being touched ... and from laughing so hard) at all they were experiencing living life with inner city kids in Atlanta ... and when I say "living" ... I mean, truly "living" among these kids, being in their homes and bringing them into their own.  So, I started my campaign again ... and this time I was heard and so last week, Becca and Adam came to share their story with our students and it opened so many hearts to what God can do through people who say "yes" once ... and keep saying YES!!  I was so proud of the questions students asked ... so amazed at Adam and Becca's transparency and their honesty.  I think God's gonna be using that night for quite a while.  We even had a student step up at the end of the night and ask to lead our ministry with the homeless for next year (no one had applied).

Becca shared from her blog as they spoke ... and last week she recapped some of the entries she shared in her blog.  I wanted to share it with you because it's been a piece of something God has been using in my life.  We are almost finished with Crazy Love in my small group ... and I believe Becca and Adam (and Jayci) belong right along the others in chapter 9 "who really lives that way?"  I'd like to join them there.  Here's that entry for you guys ... http://thestanleyclan.blogspot.com/2010/04/reflecting-on-journey.html

Thanks, Becca (and Adam) for sharing your lives and your story!  It was a blast getting to hang out with you, too!  Next time ... diet cokes and Mexican all around!  Love ya, girl!
