life as I know it.

My friends now all start the question, "So, when do you think it's gonna get better?" and somewhere in the middle say, "you know, you say it will, but it really never does, does it??"

NO.  No.  Nope.  It doesn't.

Nathan shared an article with us last week on finding balance and we kind of all laughed when it commented that you need to build in recovery time immediately to follow busy seasons.  In our world of campus ministry, we tend to hit it hard for nine whole months ... and try to make it to summer (while enjoying a little time at Christmas)  ... but I am being reminded this week that that's just not enough.  And God has been so gracious to give me a little breather.

We're in the middle of 60+ hour weeks ... several of them.  And while no one stops us from taking some "recovery" time ... nothing stops for that to happen, either!  But this weekend, I got some of that ... and it was glorious and unexpected.  It's dinner theater weekend, but the beauty of that is that there are four of us and so we don't have to do all of the shows.  So I elected for the Friday and Monday night shows ... and had an unexpected weekend!  Now that means I work 10-12 hour days EVERY day this week ... culminating in our women's retreat this weekend.  SOOOO, man I hope that I stored up some good rest, good memories, and good mojo for the next long sprint.

But, while they are fresh on my mind, my gifts for this weekend ...
231. sleeping until the sun coming through the window is too bright to sleep anymore
232. getting to go to dinner with Gavin and Paul and laughing about old memories
233. getting my taxes done ... somewhat painlessly ... and having a refund at the end of that!  :-)
234. hanging out with friends during dinner theater Friday night.  They might just have missed the whole show because we were talking!
235. Being at BCM long enough that I really know alumni now!
236. a great staff meeting with the Connect guys where we made some steps toward what our structure for next year might look like ... and baby, streamline is the word!
237. eating dinner on top of the freezer, in the closet during dinner theater :-)
238. going mountain biking today with Gavin ... I loved it!
239. Having a 80 degree day in February!
240. I love being at my church!
241. pulling weeds in the flower beds
242. looking forward to planting flowers
243. seeing buds coming up
244. painting my toenails pink
245. going to bed early
