change.

Nothing sends us spinning or makes us more excited than change.

Tonight was the reveal of three months of prayer, planning, talking, listening to come to a new way of doing ministry at BCM.

And it means change.  Nothing excites us more.  Nothing frightens us more.

I am still a little in shock that where we've come in the last three months since that monumental day when we all said "we're in" to the challenge to be more effective in doing ministry on our campus.

None of us knew where we would go.  We knew some things we wanted to keep and some things we knew we had to change.

And tonight, we, I think, are closer than ever to the heart of who we are at BCM. We've always said that discipleship is the driver of all we do.  But we've not functioned as though it is.  Tonight we have said clearly: BCM exists to disciple collegians who will, in turn, disciple others.  And we are truly centering all we do and who we are around what happens in our small group communities.  As a matter of fact, Tuesday nights will now be corporate worship followed by small group meetings.  Small groups that now have more freedom because they are not just oriented around days and times ... but can now be based on common affinities, ministries, majors, etc.

We've still got a lot to figure out.  We are in uncharted territory for us.  For me, the mark of success was the huge number of seniors who said, "I love this and I am so jealous I am not going to be here next year!"  I heard that over and over.

Change is not easy.  There are some who are disappointed because where they saw themselves doesn't exist that way anymore.  Some are confused.  Some are deciding if who they are fits who we are.

I am excited.  I cannot wait to see what God's gonna do.
