[good] Friday

I've never understood why, exactly the term "good" got applied to the Friday that Christ died.  To me, Sunday is the "good" day, the day that we celebrate.  Friday is sad and painful.  It's dark and hard.  I cannot hardly watch the crucifixion portrayed in a movie or musical.  It is so hard.  And knowing it was ME that put Him there is too much.  There may be little "good" about today, but there is much good about our God who gave His greatest gift to meet our greatest need.  Today is our reminder that when the worst thing that could happen just happened, God is still sovereign and is still good!

Savior I come
Quiet my soul remember
Redemption's hill
Where Your blood was spilled
For my ransom
Everything I once held dear
I count it all as lost

Lead me to the cross
Where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees
Lord I lay me down
Rid me of myself
I belong to You
Lead me, lead me to the cross

You were as I
Tempted and trialed
Human
The word became flesh
Bore my sin and death
Now you're risen

Everything I once held dear
I count it all as lost

To your heart
To your heart
Lead me to your heart
Lead me to your heart
