Probably that list is long ... If you narrow that list to things men don't get about women, that list actually got longer.
But today, as we are nearing the final lap before Easter, I am convinced that we still don't get it. It is completely inconceivable to me that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. I'm not sure there's a way that my finite, justice-oriented, human brain can wrap itself around that kind of sacrifice.
Not because He needed us. Not because He knew we'd change. Not because we were ready. Not because we'd get it together. Not because we'd stop letting Him down. Just because of love.
Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him. Romans 5:6-8 MSG
I might not get it. Might never get it. But I will not stop being grateful for that gift.
