relationships

"Wisdom is not true wisdom unless it is lived out in the context of relationships ...
You can't be happy away from people.
You can't be holy away from people.
You can't be wise away from people.
And you can't be significant away from people."

WOW!  I guess it shouldn't be surprising that the God who exists three-in-one would make us to live the life He's called us to ... in relationship.  But while I've always seen the value in relationships, I've never quite understood the impertive.  But I mean ... God made us for relationship with Him.  The imagery He uses is that of family ... and that of a body ... with many members and many parts all depending on one another.  And He placed us in these families and in this body because it's important ... not just because its good.

It's been a long day, but a good day. My heart is lightened by the conversations I've had today.  In those conversations, I've fleshed out more what God's teaching me.  I've been refined as I've seen my own selfishness and sin.  I've been challenged as I've heard someone share their heart.  I've been broken for heartache.  I've celebrated God's amazing redemption.  I've seen more of God because of sharing life with others.  I've laughed.  I've thought.  I've listened.  I've teared up.  I've smiled.  I've risked.  I've tried.  I've trusted.  True, those relationships most crucial to our lives most make us humble and most make us holy.  But all relationships give us a deeper understanding of the God who made us and how He loves us and what He's called us to and who we are.

Still thinking on this one ... again, it's been a long day.  But I'm so thankful that it wasn't lived alone.
