Brave Day #16: Adoption

Today I went to a shower for a sweet family who welcomed their new daughter home a few weeks ago.  They had spent many months praying and anticipating and trusting and dreaming of the daughter God had already placed in their hearts.  And at the right time, God dropped the right baby right into their home.  And you'd never know she has not been there all along!  Their beautiful story is found here

I've had several friends bring children into their homes through adoption and I marvel at their stories ... their reasons for adoption, how God brought them the child they have, and the amazing ways these children come to be part of their forever families ... and life is never the same.  I'd LOVE to have an adoption story some day.  I think it's a beautiful way to redeem hard situations and to complete families ... but I think, even more, it is a beautiful picture of the Father's love for us.  And I think it is one of the bravest things  ... for the birthmother or birthfamily to give another family the gift of raising the child they gave birth to, for the adoptive family to welcome a child into their family.  It's brave and beautiful all at once!

So thankful that God came up with the idea of adoption.  Grateful to be a child He lovingly welcomed into His family as His own.  Glad He took a chance on me.

"Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son."  Eph 1:4-6 (NLT)
