E is for ...

EXPECTATION.

Sooo many good "e" words ... but excitement and enthusiasm ... can best be summed up in expectation.  So many awaited the birth of the Messiah.  Not only Mary and Joseph ... the wisemen ... the Jews ... Anna and Simeon waited their whole lives to see His birth.  Much as we await, with anticipation, His return.  Upon seeing the Christ child, Simeon said,
“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,
you may now dismiss your servant in peace.
For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and the glory of your people Israel.”
Luke 2:29-32

We can live in the anticipation that God is true to every last word.  He is NOT going to fail to exceed our expectations.  But like Simeon and Anna, we are called to be faithful waiters and watchers.
