Q is for ...

QUIET.

Ok, let's be honest.  I HATE getting the "Q" in our annual family scrabble battles (yep you read that right!).  My brother always has quite (hmmm, that's one of them) the arsenal of "Q" words in his mind and I never remember any of them ... but even if I could remember them,  I suppose most of them don't have a meaning that would be Christmas worthy.  So, here I am with the predictable one ... QUIET.

One of my favorite parts of this season is QUIET ... Christmas lights, fire in the fireplace, QUIET.  As I sit this morning ... plans changed by time and distance I finally find myself with a little of that, a very welcome guest after three LONG days of work meetings and hotel living.  My head is spinning with a long to-do list that must be accomplished today to stay on task for a long, busy weekend full of fun (but busy) stuff.  But I gave myself the first hour of this morning to enjoy QUIET.  Fire.  Christmas lights.  Prayer (for my sweet friend who is burying her Dad today and so many others struggling with hurts this Christmas). Thankfulness.  Listening.  Diet Coke.  Scripture.

Silent Night.  Holy Night.  All is calm.  All is bright.  Round yon virgin mother and child.  Holy infant so tender and mild.  Sleep in heavenly peace.   Sleep in heavenly peace...
